NEWS: Breathe Carolina RELOADED – Deluxe Studio Album Release

Denver based electro-rock duo Breathe Carolina is happy to announce that they will be releasing a deluxe version of their latest full length album, Hell Is What You Make It: RELOADED via Columbia on July 10th. The new digital-only release will be available on iTunes and all Digital Service Providers and will include Breathe Carolina’s latest single, “Hit and Run” along with a second new song “Reaching For The Floor,” plus a remix of “Hit and Run” by the UK’s Wideboys (Beyonce, LMFAO, Nelly Furtado). In addition, an updated cut of “Last Night (Vegas)” will appear on the release along with brand new album art which can be seen below alongside the album’s updated track listing.

Breathe Carolina’s latest single “Hit and Run,” which serves as the follow up to their platinum single “Blackout,” is gaining steady airplay across the country on Pop Radio and has debuted on Top 40 chart this week. The video (above) sees Kyle Even and David Schmitt, the brains behind Breathe Carolina, in a retro club set in the middle of a murder case and can be seen on VEVO now where it premiered last wee. The band will keep the party going and the momentum rolling for “Hit and Run” as they headline the main stage of the Vans Warped Tour this summer where they will be joined by other Warped Tour vets such as All Time Low, Rise Against, New Found Glory and Anti-Flag.

Hell Is What You Make It is the band’s third studio album and was released by Fearless Records in July of 2011 and was heralded as “one of the year’s best pure pop albums” by The New York Times. Breathe Carolina’s first mainstream hit single emerged from that initial release and worked its way into regular radio airplay and up the charts to the Top 20 and the Top 40. The single gained Schmitt and Even the attention of Columbia, who stepped up to sign the duo in December of 2011, and went on to earn platinum status this year. Since then, Breathe Carolina has maintained a rigorous touring schedule in support of Hell Is What You Make It and show no signs of slowing down as “Hit and Run” becomes this summer’s anthem.

Check Out Hell Is What You Make It: RELOADED on July 10th (new cover art and tracklisting below), buy “Hit and Run” now, and catch the band headlining the main stage of the 2012 Vans Warped Tour this summer, confirmed dates below. Sub City & Hopeless Records Raise $2 Million For Charity!

In 1999 the staff at Hopeless Records got the crazy idea that if they gave bands and their fans the opportunity to connect their talent and passion with causes that were important to them, they could make a positive impact through music. Twelve years, 40 releases, countless events, and one annual national & international tour later, Sub City has raised over 2 million dollars for charity.

“Breaking $2 million donated to charity is a reminder to me of how powerful music, music fans, musicians and the music community can be in making a positive impact in the world. A huge thank you to all of you who have played a part in reaching this milestone. We are eager and passionate in working with you to make an even bigger difference from this day forward.” – Hopeless Records President & Sub City Executive Director Louis Posen says.

This milestone has certainly not been achieved alone. With the annual Take Action Tour, Take Action compilation and Sub City releases and events, over 400 artists have generously participated in Sub City projects including Thrice, Avenged Sevenfold, All Time Low, Paramore, Jimmy Eat World, Plain White T’s, Silverstein, The Weakerthans, Sugarcult, Gym Class Heroes, August Burns Red, Attack Attack, and many more. In addition, the support and generosity of the music industry has played a valuable role in raising 2 million dollars.

At a very special private event on Sept 1st in Los Angeles, Sub City will be honoring just a few of the people and organizations that have meant so much in helping reach this milestone. Honorees include, Mike Shea and Alternative Press, iTunes, Hot Topic, Jason Tate and Absolutepunk.net, GRACE and Red Bull.

Hopeless Records and non-profit Sub City have been recognized for their philanthropic work by: The 110 US Congress, National Association of Recording Merchandisers (NARM), Hot Topic Foundation, California Senate, Los Angeles City council, Billboard Magazine, Alternative Press, Business Week and The Los Angeles Times amongst many more.

Sub City is a registered 501 (c) 3 non profit organization that connects artists, fans, and the causes they are passionate about. Some of the non-profits Sub City and artists have worked with are: A Place Called Home, Sex, Etc., PostiveChange, Dubi Zuver Defense Fund, Diana Price Fish Foundation, DoSomething.org, HotTopic Foundation, Kristin Brooks Hope Center, Plea For Peace Foundation, Redwood Summer Justice Project, The Ruckus Society, Driving For Donors, Foundation Fighting Blindness, Prison Radio, Women’s Justice Center, Schools for Chiapas, Positive Images, Multiple Sclerosis Service Society, Newday, H.E.A.R, Crittenton Services, Berkeley Free Clinic, Art City, PEC, Orangewood Pals, Radiation Public Health Project, Mount Carmel Clinic, Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation and more. Next for Sub City includes the planning of the 2012 Take Action Tour, which will be the annual tour’s 11th anniversary.

SoundCloud’s New Q&A Platform!

An innovative way to connect artists to fans, SoundCloud has come out with a new platform called “Takes Questions”, where artists are accepting questions from fans. First artists to test out the platform include: Imogen Heap, DJ Nihal, Diana Vickers, The Blackout, All Time Low, Encore, and Fenech-Soler.

How it works:

The platform is actually rather simple. Users set up their own, customizable webpage, where other users can record questions from their browser (thanks to the platform’s new “Record” feature). The person being queried can, in return, record an answer from the browser, iPhone or Android that will then be uploaded to his or her page. Once a question is answered, the questioning party will be alerted via Twitter. Other users can then surf over to the artist’s page, where they can listen to all questions posed by others as well as the answers.

Although the platform is still in the beta testing stages, artists ARE taking questions. So hop on over and familiarize yourself with the newest direct-to-fan (soon to be) phenomenon:
